WWE Legends of WrestleMania is a video game featuring legends of the professional wrestling promotion, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), who have appeared at WrestleMania in the 1980s and 1990s; during that time, WWE was known as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). The game was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was released in March 2009 to coincide with WrestleMania XXV. The game was developed by Yuke’s and published by THQ, the same developer and publisher for the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw video game series. The WWE logo featured in the game was a slight modification of the pre-1998 WWF logo.

• Streamlined Control Layout: Hacking away the intricate grapple systems of its contemporaries, the game relies on an easy-to-learn layout. You only need the D-pad (or analog stick) and four main face buttons: strike, grapple, block/reverse, and environmental actions.

• Combo & Chain Systems: Matches utilize dynamic quick-time events (QTEs). When a high-impact grapple chain starts, onscreen button prompts appear; pressing them faster than your opponent allows you to continue the devastating attack or reverse out of it.

• Tiered Momentum HUD: The HUD tracks a health bar and a momentum number from 1 to 3. Hitting successful chains increases your tier level, unlocking more powerful moves. Reaching level 3 allows you to unleash your wrestler’s signature finisher.

• Retro Star Power: The base game includes 38 playable Superstars alongside 4 non-playable legendary managers (Bobby Heenan, Jimmy Hart, Mr. Fuji, and Paul Bearer). Iconic names like Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Andre the Giant, Bret Hart, and Stone Cold Steve Austin headline the roster.

• Classic Arenas: Features 16 historically accurate arenas spanning WrestleMania I through XV, capturing the old-school red, white, and blue ring ropes.

• Historical Presentation: Authentic entrance video packages, classic ring gear details (like Bret Hart gifting his sunglasses to a ringside fan), and commentary from Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler round out the nostalgic package.
