UFC Sudden Impact is a mixed martial arts video Game. The gameplay in Sudden Impact is very similar to that of the previous entries in the series. Each fighter possess a fighting style that varies between Boxing, Karate, Kung-Fu, Kempo, Muay Thai, Ninjitsu, Sambo, Submission, Sumo, Pro Wrestling, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and more. Each of the four face buttons on the controller specifically controls one of the fighter’s limbs. By hitting two buttons at once, the player can perform a takedown, a grappling move, a submission move or other similar technique. An addition made to Sudden Impact’s gameplay is an added focus on fence positioning. When backing an opponent into the cage that surrounds the Octagon ring, attempting a grapple maneuver will put the player into one of several different possible positions, including a standing face-off as well as a special ground-mount, where the bottom fighter’s head is literally pressed against the cage.

Pushing an opponent into the cage alters grappling situations, allowing for unique standing face-offs and specialized ground-and-pound positions where the bottom fighter’s head is pressed against the mesh.

2. UFC Sudden Impact Diverse Gameplay Modes

• Enhanced Story Mode: You start as a street fighter discovered by an MMA trainer with a goal to make it into the UFC within three years. You choose from 8 distinct dojos, complete specific in-match challenges to earn stat points, take monthly evaluation mini-games (like striking a punching bag), and compete in annual amateur tournaments. Once you successfully reach the UFC, your custom fighter unlocks for all other modes.

• Champion Road & Legend Mode: You pick a fighter to win four consecutive matches in their weight class to claim a Silver Belt. Replaying the mode with that same character upgrades it to “Legend Mode,” requiring nine straight wins to capture the Gold Belt and unlock hidden roster characters.

• Tournament Mode: An 8-man single-elimination tournament that closely mirrors the look, feel, and rules of the historic, early UFC events.

• Arcade & Versus: Standard modes for quick-play fights against the AI or local head-to-head multiplayer.

• Over 35 Real-Life UFC Fighters: Features legendary superstars from that era including Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, Matt Hughes, Frank Shamrock, and Andrei Arlovski. There are also 10 secret characters to unlock.

• Authentic Atmosphere: Match commentary and introductions are handled by the iconic voice of Bruce Buffer, while “Big” John McCarthy serves as the in-cage referee.

• Real-Time Damage Visuals: Fighters show visible wear and tear over the course of a match, including real-time cuts, facial bruising, and blood.
